The competition is a collaboration between Högskolan i Skövde (HIS) and Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen (Howest).
Helping out during the Belgian event are the programs New Multimedia & Communication Technology (NMCT) and Applied Computer Sciences (TI).
The competition will take place in both Skövde (Sweden) and Kortrijk (Belgium) at the same time, same rules and problems on both sites.
At the competition start a web url will be released which provides a file archive containing problems, riddles and other clues for your team to figure out and solve. Each problem results in a text string which your team can report into a web based scoring system (https://scoreboardhowest.nsa.his.se). Each correctly entered text string will give your team an amount of points reflecting the difficulty of the task. The team which has gathered the most points at each site after 18 hours wins the competition at that campus.
If you are a student at HIS or Howest, then you can be part of a team. The problems in the competition will be of mixed subjects. Example problems from former years are Sudoku puzzles, meta information from images, hashed passwords, programming challenges, network based challenges, encryption ...
A team consists of 2-4 members and needs to register to participate. Last date to register is the 17th of March.
None, our sponsors take care of that.
The competition takes place in Howest campus GKG in the main forum and some other rooms, there will be one or more cabled and/or wireless networks provided and there will be internet.
We will provide for the contenders during the event. There will be pizza (and alternative) on Friday night courtesy of Howest. We will also provide breakfast Saturday morning and other snacks during the night. We will make sure that there is coffee and other drinkable liquids during the whole event.
Not only fame and glory, but the winning team will be the first one to pick one of the prizes.
We recommend that you bring the following stuff to the competition day
